TRANSPORTATION HUB
Izmir, Turkey | Design Complete |
The Izmir Transportation Integration Hub proposal envisions a new topography for the port city of Izmir through multi-layered elevated parks, plazas, and interconnected green paths. Designed as a response to the city’s dynamic growth and future mobility plan, the project integrates metro, high-speed rail, tram, bus systems, car parks, bicycle routes, and pedestrian networks to create seamless urban connectivity.
Blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, the design merges building structure with public space, transforming underutilized urban gaps into vibrant, sustainable environments. By weaving together coastline, city center, and industrial districts, the hub establishes a continuous public flow and fosters social and cultural interactions across three levels of elevation.
The result is a living, evolving “landscraper”—a transportation hub that not only connects people and places but also redefines urban life through integration, accessibility, and perpetual motion.
The landscraper is on a path of continuous change within it’s very form. Public parks and plazas aim to serve to all kinds of users; all Izmir urbanites and visitors, as well as, users with disabilities. The interlacing structure responds to the three different levels of elevation, providing opportunities for social-cultural interactions.
